Twin with a beekeeping project and bee part of the better future for a community in rural Africa

What is Hive Twinning?

Hive twinning is a living demonstration of your solidarity with rural communities across Africa. With your support, communities can take up beekeeping, building a livelihood that improves quality of life and supports the local environment.

Starting from £60 per hive per year, so just £5 a month, you can directly support one of our projects and get direct, exclusive updates in return.

Bees Abroad Projects are led by the community and grown from within the community.
Following the successful completion of a foundation year, projects are supported by us for an average of three years before graduating.

Stemmed from a mutual passion, we have not only twinned our rooftop beehives with a beehive on Kome Island in Tanzania, we have also launched our ‘Bee Our Guest’ package together, which includes a donation to support this wonderful charity.

Talusier, Owner

Twin: Bee Farmers on Curtches

Based in Quebec City, Hydromellerie Tal uses the honey harvested from their 150 hives to craft light and refreshing carbonated meads. They chose to support Bees Abroad because they believe in its mission to empower the disenfranchised through beekeeping  and local communities. As a 1% for the planet member, they hope to give mead a new image by making it a drink everyone can enjoy and emphasizing its low environmental footprint.

Twin: Kome Island Women Beekeepers

My name is Franjo and I’m located on the island of Cres in Croatia, Europe and I live in the countryside, in a small village. I started beekeeping 11 years ago, at the end of my studying. I don’t even recall how I stumbled upon the “Bees abroad” project, but when I saw it I immediately decided to support the project.
